Kareena Kapoor to retain her maiden surname
After Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor tied the knot on
16th October 2012, there were several speculations wherein people were
wondering whether Kareena Kapoor would be converting to Islam and change
her last name or not.
At the recent music launch of
TALAASH, director Reema Kagti clarified that Kareena Kapoor would retain
her maiden name. Her name in the credits of the movie will be written
as only Kareena Kapoor.
Even before Kareena tied the
knot with Saif Ali Khan there were speculations created amongst people
whether she would convert to Islam or not.
Saif and Kareena completed the formalities of a registered marriage on 16th October.
Ever since Saif and Kareena
started dating each other in 2007, they were hardly any interviews that
ended without the big question about the D-day. But they evaded it and
maintained silence till the last minute.
According to some sources there
was an initial suggestion from Saif's extended family that Kareena
should convert. But later Kareena's immediate family and Saif's sat
together and decided to do away with any conversion or religious wedding
to avoid controversy.
Sharmila Tagore had converted to Islam when she married cricketer Mansur Ali Pataudi, donning the name Ayesha Begum.
When asked whether she will
convert into Islam post her marriage, the 32-year-old Kareena said:
"That's a very wrong question, which I will not be answering."
